3.EVENT BACKGROUND
1.The
construction of “Four-function Center City”.
In 2010, Shanghai will functionally form the framework
of an international economic, financial, trade
and shipping center. Corresponding to this goal
within period of the "11th Five-Year Plan",
Shanghai will build a "three-ring plus ten
connection" Expressway, 750 km highway, 400
km rail transportation network at reasonable layout
of an integrated transport hub and static traffic
facilities, shaping a three-dimensional integrated
network system of highway, external rail, road
and urban rail transport, i.e. “four network convergence
with convenient access".
2.Shanghai
Hosts “World Expo 2010" with huge traffic
pressure
World Expo 2010 will be held in Shanghai, it is
expected that about 73 million visitors from all
over the world, daily average of 550,000 visitor-trips
will come into Shanghai through various means
of transportation by then. To ensure this grand
event a great success, Shanghai will complete
the construction of traffic integration, transformation
by upgrading the comprehensive ITS technology
and service.
3.The
transport integration of the Yangtze River Delta
region
As the center of the Yangtze River Delta region,
Shanghai will build a 5,700 km expressway of the
total length of 9,500 km in 2010; complete the
regional highway network, rapid passenger access
and fast container-transport channels; realize
three-hour traffic circles with all in 20 minutes
on expressway.
As a major ITS event in China, International
ITS Conference & Expo 2008 Shanghai provides
not only an ideal platform for exhibitors to enter,
expand and consolidate their position in the marketplace
of China, but also an effective way to get involved
in the ITS construction of World Expo 2010 Shanghai.
4.EVENT FEATURES

Dedicated to ITS industry, the event of International
ITS Conference & Expo 2008 Shanghai has been
fully encouraged and supported by governmental
bodies related to ITS industry.
Interaction with ITS projects of World
Expo 2010.
The Government has planned to spend the total
amount of USD 14 billion in road and metro construction,
which of 20% in terms of ITS, bridges, tunnel
etc. A Traffic Control and Surveillance System
networked with public transportation, taxi, metro
and maglev will be realized before 2010.
Intensive conference program.
With a theme of “ITS with World Expo 2010 &
Yangtze River Delta Transport Information Integration”,
the Conference will focus on ITS solutions and
services to the World Expo 2010, and integration
of complex transport network within Yangtze Delta.

Advertising campaigns will be launched through
the organizers’ network, mainstream mess media
and trade publications, especially for those of
innovation, updated technology and products in
ITS and Services, so as to build up exhibitor’s
